Datadog

Datadog is the mandatory monitoring and alerting platform for all NHS BSA services. It collects AWS service metrics, application logs, traces, and custom metrics from workloads running on AWS.

All project services must be integrated with the NHSBSA_BSACloud_V2 Datadog organisation.

Standard

• Every service must ship logs, metrics, and traces to Datadog.
• AWS account-level integration must be configured via Terraform for each account.
• ECS Fargate tasks must include the FireLens and Datadog Agent sidecar containers.
• Lambda functions must use the Datadog Lambda Library layer.
• All resources must follow NHS BSA tagging conventions so that telemetry can be filtered by env, service, department, and service_line.
• Monitors must be defined in the dedicated Datadog Terraform repository, not in the service infrastructure repository.
