AWS Regions¶
Purpose¶
AWS offers global infrastructure divided into regions and availability zones. This document outlines the AWS regions that are relevant to the NHSBSA BSA AWS Cloud platform.
Requirement¶
The primary AWS region for the NHSBSA BSA Cloud platform is:
- EU (London) -
eu-west-2
All service infrastructure should be deployed in this region unless there is a specific requirement to use another region, which go through the appropriate approval process.
Other AWS regions that may be used for specific purposes due to service offerings etc. include:
- EU (Ireland) -
eu-west-1 - EU (Paris) -
eu-west-3 - EU (Frankfurt) -
eu-central-1 - US East (N. Virginia) -
us-east-1
All other regions are disabled within AWS Control Tower to prevent deployment.
